Relaxation dominated cosmological expansion
نویسنده
چکیده
The behavior near the singularity of an isotropic, homogeneous cosmological model with a viscous fluid source is investigated. This turns out to be a relaxation dominated regime. Full extended irreversible thermodynamics is used, and comparison with results of the truncated theory is made. New singular behaviors are found and it is shown that a relaxation dominated inflationary epoch may exist for fluids with small heat capacity. PACS 98.80.Hw, 04.40.Nr, 05.70.Ln

De Broglie-Bohm Prediction of Quantum Violations for Cosmological Super-Hubble Modes
The hypothesis of quantum nonequilibrium at the big bang is shown to have observable consequences. For a scalar field on expanding space, we show that relaxation to quantum equilibrium (in de Broglie-Bohm theory) is suppressed for field modes whose quantum time evolution satisfies a certain inequality, resulting in a ‘freezing’ of early quantum nonequilibrium for these particular modes. For an ...
متن کاملThe inhomogeneous equation of state and the speed of convergence to a small cosmological constant
The mechanism for the relaxation of the cosmological constant is studied and elaborated. In the model used for the analysis of the relaxation mechanism the universe contains two components: a cosmological constant of an arbitrary size and sign and a component with an inhomogeneous equation of state. Owing to the dynamics of the second component the universe asymptotically tends to a de Sitter p...
متن کاملDynamics of perturbations in Gurzadyan-Xue cosmological models
Perturbation theory within Newtonian approximation is presented for cosmological models with varying physical constants. Analytical solutions for perturbations dynamics are obtained for each Gurzadyan-Xue model with pressureless matter and radiation. We found that perturbations grow during entire expansion within GX models, including curvatureand vacuum-dominated stage when they cease to grow i...
متن کاملStatistics of an Unstable Barotropic Jet from a Cumulant Expansion
Low-order equal-time statistics of a barotropic flow on a rotating sphere are investigated. The flow is driven by linear relaxation toward an unstable zonal jet. For relatively short relaxation times, the flow is dominated by critical-layer waves. For sufficiently long relaxation times, the flow is turbulent. Statistics obtained from a second-order cumulant expansion are compared to those accum...

Recently, there has been suggestions that the apparent accelerated expansion of the universe is due not to a cosmological constant, but rather to inhomogeneities in the distribution of matter. In this work, we investigate a specific class of inhomogeneous models that can be solved analytically, namely the dust-dominated Lemâitre-Tolman-Bondi universe models. We show that they do not permit acce...
